LAURA

I am fascinated by the human body. I admire its ability to shape, move, and to heal. All it requires is the right tools. That's how I discovered Pilates. Every session is another opportunity to see the body move better. The best way to achieve this is to provide workouts that are challenging, focused, and effective. This is my approach to STOTT PILATES. My speciality is posture alignment and muscular balance. I have collaborated with physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and other health professionals to provide specific, tailored programs for those in need of rehabilitation.

I have also used my past experience as a personal trainer to create Pilates workouts that are fitness oriented and have worked with clientele looking for that extra edge in sports and/or fitness. I am certified in the STOTT PILATES method in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels (in both the base level and the advanced level). I am also educated in Injury and Special Populations. I frequently take extra education courses to further my knowledge and skills as a Pilates instructor. You could call me a professional student since I always seem to be in school. My base education is a Bachelor of Physical Education majoring in Kinesiology from the University of Alberta.

At present time, I am currently enrolled in the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in hopes of achieving my next goal of becoming a Holistic Nutritionist. I am planning to apply the body's ability to shape, move, and heal at the most basic level; the cellular level. This time, my tools will be food, glorious food. I will start my Nutrition practice the fall of 2009.
